A beachgoer in South Carolina comes across an octopus in a shell.
An octopus in a shell is discovered by a beachgoer in South Carolina.
When a beachgoer in South Carolina picked up a shell and discovered an octopus inside, she had a once-in-a-lifetime event.
According to WCIV-TV, Lori McGee was roaming around the Isle of Palms when she picked up a whelk shell and glanced inside to see whether it contained a crab. An octopus crawled over McGee’s arm after climbing out of the shell.
McGee used Instagram to chronicle the occasion.
She commented, “I’ve lived here for 12 years and walk the beach every year,” but “today I saw something I could never have imagined.”
According to McGee, the octopus lingered in the shell long enough for him to capture a photo before crawling out and returning to the ocean.
“We just watched the movie ‘My Octopus Teacher’ a few days ago,” McGee explained, “so I believe this unusual encounter was meant to be.”
