In his UN address, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentions Afghanistan and the pandemic.

In his address to the United Nations on Saturday, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed the situation in Afghanistan as well as the COVID-19 pandemic, among other topics.

Modi stated during his address to world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly’s 76th session in New York City that it is vital to ensure that Afghanistan’s territory is not utilized to spread terrorism.

He stated, “Today, the globe is facing an increased threat of regressive thought and extremism.” “In this context, making the world a site for science-based reasonable and progressive thought is critical.”

When Modi declared that “countries employing terrorism as a political tool must realise that it is an equally significant threat to them,” he was indirectly criticizing Pakistan.

Modi also addressed other pressing challenges in India, like the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The world has been battling with the greatest pandemic it has seen in a hundred years over the last one and a half years,” Modi remarked. “I pay tribute to all those who have died as a result of the dreadful corona[virus]pandemic, and my condolences go out to their families.”

He also mentioned that August 15 this year would mark the 75th anniversary of the United States’ independence from British domination.

He stated, “Our variety is the identity of our great democracy.” “It is the ideal example of a vibrant democracy since it has dozens of languages, hundreds of dialects, distinct lifestyles, and cuisines.

“The power of our democracy is evidenced by the fact that a little child who used to help his father at his tea store is now speaking before the United Nations General Assembly for the fourth time as Prime Minister of India,” he continued. “From personal experience, I can tell you that democracy can provide. Yes, democracy has served us well.”

Modi also stated that ensuring clean and potable water is a national priority for the country.
