Next summer, Billy Eichner will write and star in the film ‘Bros,’ which will be released.
Bros will be released on August 12, 2022, according to Universal Pictures. The romantic comedy was written by Billy Eichner, who also stars in it.
Billy in the Street is an unscripted television series developed by Eichner. Bros is his first feature film screenplay to be produced. The love interest for Eichner has yet to be cast.
“A witty, swoony, and sincere comedy about finding sex, love, and romance amidst the madness,” according to Universal. According to the studio, the film is about two gay guys who may fall in love but are otherwise occupied.
Universal promotes Bros as the first romantic comedy starring gay guys to be distributed by a studio. Independent films like Jeffrey and Billy’s Hollywood Screen Kiss were gay rom-coms.
Eichner also makes history by becoming the first out gay guy to co-write and star in a big studio movie. Bros. will be directed by Nicholas Stoller, who co-wrote the script with Eichner. Judd Apatow, Stoller, and Joshua Church produce, with Eichner serving as executive producer.
Currently, Eichner may be seen on Impeachment: American Crime Story as Matt Drudge. He previously acted in the Hulu series Difficult People and Netflix’s Friends From College, as well as voicing Timon in 2019’s The Lion King.
