Tommy Lasorda’s wife, Jo Lasorda, has died at the age of 91.
Jo Lasorda, who was married for 70 years to late Los Angeles Dodgers icon Tommy Lasorda, died on Tuesday at the age of 91, according to the organization.
Lasorda died Monday at her home in Fullerton, California, according to the Dodgers. There was no mention of a cause of death.
The Los Angeles Dodgers said in a statement that they were heartbroken to learn of the death of Jo Lasorda, the widow of Dodgers Hall of Famer Tommy Lasorda. “Jo, 91, died at her Fullerton home at 8:59 p.m. PDT on Monday.
“At this time, we express our heartfelt condolences to the Lasorda family.”
On April 14, 1950, Tommy Lasorda married Joan Lasorda. At a Greenville Spinners Minor League Baseball game in 1949, they met.
Tommy Lasorda, the Dodgers’ manager for 21 seasons and two World Series championships, died on Jan. 7 at his home in Southern California after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest.
Laura and Emily, the Lasordas’ granddaughters, survive them. Tom Jr., their son, died before them.
