Legendary quarterback Troy Aikman has released his updated efficiency ratings every week this NFL season. The latest power rankings may surprise fans now that the first three weeks of the season have passed. The Seattle Seahawks are currently ranked first in Aikman’s efficiency ratings on offense. In that regard, they have a slight advantage over the San Francisco 49ers. Seattle beat Indianapolis in the season opener thanks in large part to Russell Wilson’s outstanding performance. He threw for 254 yards and four touchdowns on 18-of-23 passing. The Seahawks’ offense put up another strong showing in Week 2, scoring 30 points against the Tennessee Titans. During that game, however, their running game was virtually non-existent.
After back-to-back strong offensive performances, Seattle struggled to put points on the board against the Minnesota Vikings. The Seahawks had 389 total yards on offense despite scoring only 17 points against the Vikings. That seems to have been enough to keep them at the top of Aikman’s efficiency rankings.
Surprisingly, the top two teams in Aikman’s ratings will meet on Sunday. Both the 49ers and the Seahawks are coming off losses and are looking to rebound.
With the 49ers and Seahawks meeting this weekend, NFL fans can expect a major update to Aikman’s efficiency ratings the following week.
