Week 5 of The Spun’s 2021 College Football Staff Picks

The fifth week of the 2021 college football season has arrived. At least on paper, this could be the best week we’ve ever had. There are four games between ranked teams.

With a trip to No. 2 Georgia in the SEC, upstart Arkansas, ranked No. 8, can prove it is truly elite. No. 9 Notre Dame is a rare home underdog against No. 7 Cincinnati, a Group of Five powerhouse. In a battle of unbeatens in the Big 12, No. 19 Oklahoma State takes on No. 21 Baylor.

The 3:30 p.m. is the headliner, at least in my opinion. Nick Saban’s top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide face Lane Kiffin’s No. 12 Ole Miss Rebels in an SEC matchup. Last year’s game was a thrilling shootout, with Alabama coming out on top 63-48. This fall, Ole Miss appears to be a lot better, while the Alabama game raised some questions about the Tide.

Other games worth watching include No. 14 Michigan vs. Wisconsin, No. 3 Oregon vs. Stanford, No. 6 Oklahoma vs. Kansas State, No. 15 Texas A&M vs. Mississippi State, No. 25 Clemson vs. Boston College, and No. 22 Auburn vs. LSU. For those who want a unique college football experience, there’s also 0-5 UConn vs. 1-3 Vanderbilt.

Andrew McCarty has a one-pick lead over the field after four weeks of picks. The standings after Week 4 are as follows.
