ITV’s miniseries “Litvinenko” will star David Tennant.
David Tennant, who has starred in Staged, Good Omens, and Doctor Who, is slated to play in ITV’s four-part thriller Litvinenko.
Tennant will play Alexander Litvinenko, a former Russian Federal Security Service and KGB officer who died in November 2006 from polonium poisoning.
According to a press statement from the British broadcaster, George Kay – whose credits include Lupin and Criminal – scripted the program, which follows the dedicated Scotland Yard detectives who toiled for ten years to uncover and bring to justice those guilty for Litvinenko’s death.
“Alexander Litvinenko was a living witness to his own assassination in late 2006,” Kay said in a statement.
“In his final days, he entrusted the information of what had happened to him to the Metropolitan Police. It took a decade for those claims to be confirmed, thanks to those cops and his wonderful widow Marina Litvinenko. Their perseverance, hard work, and bravery make this not only an important narrative for our time, but also a privilege to write.”
Margarita Levieva, Mark Bonnar, and Neil Maskell round out the cast.
