The Giants have announced that three starters will miss Sunday’s game against the Saints.

The New York Giants hope to win their first game of the 2021 season this Sunday against the New Orleans Saints after a 0-3 start. However, Big Blue’s task of defeating New Orleans is about to become much more difficult following the latest injury report.

The Giants announced on Friday that three of their offensive starters will miss Sunday’s game. Starting guard Ben Bredeson and wide receivers Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton have both been ruled out. Shepard has a hamstring injury and only played about a third of the Giants’ snaps last week against the Atlanta Falcons. To start the season, he has 18 receptions for 223 yards and a touchdown.

Slayton was limited by a hamstring injury in Week 3 and only had one reception against the Falcons. To begin his third NFL season, he has seven receptions for 127 yards and a touchdown. Bredeson, who spent his 2020 rookie season with the Baltimore Ravens, is in his first year with the Giants. Last week, he made his first NFL start against the Falcons and played every snap, but he injured his hand in the process.

With Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton out, the Giants’ only starting wide receiver is Kenny Golladay. To assist quarterback Daniel Jones, they’ll have to rely on the inexperienced Collin Johnson, Kadarius Toney, and C.J. Board.

The Giants’ offense is currently ranked in the bottom half of the league, owing in part to continued offensive line issues. As the team tries to solve the multi-year problem, these are likely to continue. It could be a long day for Big Blue against a Saints defense that is currently ranked in the top-6 in the league.

The game will take place at 1:05 p.m. on Sunday. It will air on FOX at 8:00 p.m. EST. Nokia News
