According to the ministry, dozens of Chinese jets have entered Taiwan’s air defense zone.

According to Taiwanese military officials, dozens of Chinese military jets went into the Taiwan air defense identification zone on Saturday, marking Beijing’s greatest intrusion to date.

According to Taiwan’s defense ministry, twenty Chinese jets flew through the area after 38 flybys in two waves on Friday, including nuclear-capable bombers.

On Friday, 25 Chinese army planes flew into the southern sector of the air defense identification zone, followed by 13 Chinese planes passing across the area at night.

Each time, Taiwan’s military issued radio warnings to depart and deployed air defense missile systems to monitor the activity.

For national security reasons, an air defense identification zone is a section of airspace where foreign aircraft are detected, monitored, and controlled.

According to the BBC, Taiwan has been complaining for more than a year about Chinese air force missions near the island.

Taiwanese Premier Su Tseng-chang warned reporters on Saturday that China has been indiscriminately engaging in military aggression, endangering regional stability.

Since the civil war in the 1940s, when China and Taiwan were divided, Taiwan has considered itself as a sovereign state, while Beijing sees it as a breakaway province, according to the BBC.
