This weekend, the Dallas Cowboys will have an extra receiver on hand.
Wide receiver Malik Turner has been activated from the injured reserve list by the Cowboys. On Sunday, he’ll play for the Cowboys against the Carolina Panthers. Until now, the youngster had been dealing with a foot injury. Last season, Turner (
) was primarily a special teams player. In the coming weeks, he’ll most likely start on several special teams units.
This is a big boost for the Cowboys, who are looking to improve their record to 3-1 on Saturday. “The Cowboys activated receiver Malik Turner from injured reserve Saturday,” according to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk . “Turner started the season on injured reserve with a foot injury and missed the required three games. He started practicing again earlier this week. ”

Malik Turner was battling for a spot in the Cowboys’ receiver rotation. His progress was obviously slowed by an injury. It’ll be interesting to see if he can reclaim his spot in the lineup. In the meantime, Turner should see plenty of action on special teams for the rest of the season. Last year, he carved out a role for the Cowboys in that department and had a decent impact. Turner is expected to return to the field on special teams, either against the Panthers on Sunday or later in the season.
