The schedule for Week 6 of the 2021 college football season features a number of intriguing matchups. All of the games between Arkansas and Ole Miss, Auburn and Georgia, Iowa and Penn State, and Alabama and Texas A&M have the potential to bring the house down.
However, ESPN’s College GameDay is highlighting another historic rivalry with title implications this week. College GameDay revealed on Sunday that they will be in Dallas for the Red River Showdown between Oklahoma and Texas. College GameDay tweeted
“RED RIVER SHOWDOWN.” “I’ll be seeing you in Dallas for the (Oklahoma) vs. (Texas) : one of the most storied rivalries in college football. ”
Thanks to their 5-0 record, Oklahoma is undefeated and ranked No. 6 in the country. Texas is unranked and 4-1, but a win over their Red River rivals would put them in prime position for a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game.

In recent years, the Red River Showdown between Oklahoma and Texas has been very close. The game has been decided by 3-12 points since 2014. Oklahoma, on the other hand, has been the more dominant team in recent years. They’ve won three straight games against their arch-rivals, including five of the last six. A win over Texas would put the Sooners at the top of the list of non-SEC teams in contention for the national championship. For the Longhorns, beating Oklahoma is a must if they want to win the Big 12 Conference, let alone make the College Football Playoff. Who do you think will win the Red River Showdown next weekend?
