Rob Gronkowski, the Buccaneers’ tight end, is expected to lose extra time due to rib and lung issues.
Rob Gronkowski of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will not play against the New England Patriots on Sunday, and he could lose even more time due to several injuries.
On Sunday, sources told NFL Network, ESPN, and Fox Sports that Gronkowski had a punctured lung and at least four rib fractures. According to NFL Network and ESPN, Gronkowski’s injuries could force him to miss more games.
In the Buccaneers’ Week 3 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, Gronkowski suffered the injuries. He had been listed as questionable for the Buccaneers’ Week 4 matchup earlier this week, but was declared out on Saturday.
Through the first three weeks of the 2021 season, the 11-year veteran had 184 yards on 16 catches and four touchdowns.
The Buccaneers take on the Patriots in Foxborough, Massachusetts, at 8:20 p.m. EDT on Sunday. The game will be broadcast on NBC.
