Terry Bradshaw, a Hall of Fame quarterback and FOX NFL analyst, is no stranger to making bold statements. But a statement he made about Carolina Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold has a lot of people talking this morning.
On Sunday, Bradshaw said Darnold’s trade to the Panthers was a great one. He believes they landed the best quarterback in franchise history as a result of that move. Darnold is 3-0 as a starter for the Panthers. With a 68 percent completion rate, 888 passing yards, three touchdowns, and only one interception, he’s on pace for a career year. “I believe [the Panthers]have found the best quarterback in franchise history,” Bradshaw said.
Bradshaw appears to have forgotten about the Panthers’ last decade of football. Cam Newton, the Panthers’ quarterback, set numerous franchise records, was named league MVP in 2015, and led the team to the Super Bowl that year. And you can bet Panthers fans informed Bradshaw:
“Terry Bradshaw just said Sam is the greatest QB in our franchises history lol… im rootin for him but yikesss,” one Panthers fan tweeted. Another fan wondered, “why did terry bradshaw just say sam was the best QB in Panthers franchise history as if Cam never existed?”
” Terry Bradshaw really said that with Sam Darnold, the Panthers may have found the best quarterback in franchise history? I don’t know, it seems WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY “LOL,” wrote a third fan.
Sam Darnold has clearly found a place where he can get the help he requires. However, he must lead the Panthers to a winning season before fans are willing to consider him their all-time best quarterback. Was Terry Bradshaw’s remark about Sam Darnold inappropriate?
