Victor succumbs to depression, which is expected to pass by Tuesday.
Tropical Storm Warning Victor is still hanging in there, but he’s now a tropical depression.
The center of what is now Tropical Depression Victor was positioned over the Atlantic Ocean about 1,145 miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands, with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center’s 11 a.m. AST advisory. The depression is traveling northwest at a speed of 13 miles per hour.
Over the next three days, Victor will continue to move ahead, becoming a remnant low by late Monday and dissipating on Tuesday.
There are no coastal watches or warnings in place.
Victor is the season’s 20th named storm, leaving the National Hurricane Center with only one last name on its primary list, Wanda.
Victor was expected to become a hurricane, according to previous forecasts.
Forecasters will name systems using an additional list prepared by the World Meteorologist Organization after Wanda has formed. The list will take the role of the Greek alphabet, which was previously used to designate storms during two particularly active seasons: 2020 and 2005.
