Last-Minute Trade Targets for the Ravens include a Broncos All-Pro CB.

 

The Baltimore Ravens will have to act quickly if they want to make any acquisitions on either side of the ball with less than four hours until the NFL trade deadline.

Baltimore has battled through a slew of injuries to start the 2021 season 5-2, but there are still significant flaws on both sides of the ball. In a weak AFC, the Ravens may see an opportunity to make a significant addition or two in order to propel their squad into Super Bowl contention.

Eric DeCosta has made a deadline purchase in each of the three seasons since taking over as general manager in 2018, trading for Ty Montgomery in 2018, Marcus Peters in 2019, and Yannick Ngakoue in 2020. With the Ravens currently in third place in the AFC and first place in the AFC North, DeCosta may be considering another high-impact signing.

The Ravens may add to their backfield.

The Ravens have been linked to a number of running backs in recent weeks, including Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Ronald Jones II, who, according to head coach Bruce Arians through ESPN’s Jenna Laine, will require a “exceptional” offer.

Baltimore will not want to overpay for Jones, but they may seek for ways to enhance their veteran-led backfield in other ways.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Houston Texans are said to be shopping former Denver Broncos running back Phillip Lindsay after dealing former Raven Mark Ingram last week. Lindsay has struggled this season in Houston, but he’s the same athlete that carried for over 1,000 yards in each of his first two NFL seasons with the Broncos. Last year’s injury restricted his influence, but he still possesses the quickness and shiftiness that made him so effective in Denver.

While salary space is a major worry for the Ravens when it comes to transactions, the Ravens can certainly absorb the remainder of Lindsay’s $2 million deal for this season. If the compensation for Lindsay is adequate, they might even be able to persuade Houston to eat some of the money.
