Miles Sanders Reacts to the Philadelphia Eagles’ 46-Time Run Decision.

Screams of “Free Miles Sanders” and “Let Miles Eat” could be heard during the first seven games. Due to a sprained ankle, the Philadelphia Eagles’ starting running back received only 63 touches before being placed on injured reserve. Sanders’ injury will keep him out for at least three games.

Despite the loss of his leading rusher, Nick Sirianni decided to rely heavily on the run game in Week 8. The Eagles ran the ball 46 times for 236 yards against the Detroit Lions. Boston Scott (60 yards), Jordan Howard (57 yards), and Kenny Gainwell (13 yards) all had double-digit carries (27 yards). On the ground, the Eagles scored four touchdowns.

Sanders was understandably upset in private while watching the game on his couch, his injured ankle iced. Nope. Sirianni said that after seeing his teammates establish a season high in rushing yards, the star running back wrote him words of encouragement.

“Actually, he texted me, ‘HELL YEA, Coach,’ in all caps.” According to Sirianni, Miles was clearly delighted for his colleagues. “Miles is an exceptional teammate. He’s a terrific person, teammate, and athlete. He’s a valuable addition to our team. We are plainly missing him right now and eagerly await his return. H-E-L-L, space, Y-E-A in all caps – that was his. So it was his – with an exclamation point after it.”

Eric Wilson isn’t in the lineup right now, but he’s not hurt.

Starting linebacker Eric Wilson was not held out of the lineup due to an injury. The Eagles planned to give Davion Taylor and TJ Edwards more snaps, while Alex Singleton would see more third-down action. They also wanted to keep Shaun Bradley because of his contributions to the special teams. All of these factors, according to Sirianni, coalesced to make Wilson the odd man out at the position.
