The Falcons have re-signed a speedy wide receiver and made three other moves.

The Atlanta Falcons had until 4 p.m. to complete a move, but they decided against selling or trading players.

They made many other roster adjustments before of Week 9’s meeting against the New Orleans Saints, rather than putting all of their eggs in one basket for a trade.

Darryl Bates and James Vaughters were added to Atlanta’s 53-man roster. Linebacker Dorian Etheridge was also discharged as a result of the move. The most notable addition was the return to the practice squad of wide receiver Marvin Hall.

Marvin Hall Makes a Comeback to Atlanta

Marvin Hall, a speedster who spent the 2017 and 2018 seasons with the Falcons, has been re-signed to the practice squad.

Hall, 28, has been a journeyman since signing as an undrafted free agent with the Oakland Raiders in 2016. He didn’t see any action until 2017, when he signed with the Falcons and scored his first NFL touchdown on his second day with the team, a 40-yard reception from Matt Ryan.

In his most recent season, Hall had 291 receiving yards in 11 games with the Detroit Lions in 2020, which was his most productive season in his six-year career.

He joins the Falcons at a time when they are in desperate need of wide receivers after crucial starter Calvin Ridley announced his retirement from football on Sunday, Oct. 31 to focus on his mental health.

Vaughters was born and raised in Georgia.

Vaughters was signed two months ago to fill the final slot on the Falcons’ practice squad, but after being elevated twice for gameday, Atlanta had no choice but to add him to the active roster if they wanted to keep him.

Vaughters, 28, was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Green Bay Packers in 2015 out of Standford, however he was quickly released after an injury settlement.
