The Dallas Mavericks face the Atlanta Hawks in their season opener on Thursday, hoping to get off to a good start. It’s the first game for both teams, who advanced to the playoffs last season and are expected to do so again in 2021-22.
Jason Kidd, who took over for Rick Carlisle this summer, will be making his regular season coaching debut.
Dallas will begin the season on the road, playing their first two games at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, GA.
The game will be broadcast nationally on TNT at 7:30 p.m. ET as one of the night’s most anticipated games.
Atlanta and Dallas will meet one more time this season in early February, with the Mavericks enjoying a home game against the Hawks.

Doncic and the Mavericks have won four of their six head-to-head matches since these two players were chosen. This includes victories in four of the previous five games, as well as both games last season.
Doncic averaged 27.5 points, 12 assists, and 9 rebounds per game in the two meetings last season, and was a key factor in both victories.
Young didn’t help the Hawks go over the hump versus Dallas last season, but he did play well, averaging 23 points, 12 assists, and 5.5 rebounds.
