After yet another injury, the Mavericks are short on forward depth.

The Dallas Mavericks have a tremendous roster that might make them one of the finest teams in the NBA. However, they’ve experienced a number of injuries early in the season that have hampered their progress.

Kristaps Porzingis, who has a history of missing games due to injury, has been absent for five games in a row due to a lower back problem.

To make matters worse, Maxi Kleber has been ruled out for the next 7-10 days, as Jason Kidd stated before a game against the Miami Heat on Tuesday. Kleber, who is a crucial player for the Mavs, has been diagnosed with an oblique strain after suffering a back strain on Sunday.

Dallas has a number of big men in the rotation who will see increased minutes now, but they’re all different types of players who lack the versatility Porzingis and Kleber do.

After a loss against the Heat on Tuesday night, the Mavericks dropped to 4-3 on the season. The Heat took advantage of their lack of forward depth by winning the battle of the boards and points in the paint.

What impact does the Mavericks’ lack of these two forwards have?

Unicorn is missing

Porzingis is a one-of-a-kind player in the NBA. He’s nearly always the tallest player on the court, standing at 7-foot-3, yet he can stretch the floor and hit deep 3s.

He adds versatility on both ends of the floor because to his size. Porzingis can play power forward as well as center. He’s not the same defender he used to be, but he’s still a nuisance around the rim.

The Mavericks have been solid in most areas without him in the last five games, but they have struggled on the boards. They were a top-five rebounding team with him in the lineup, but are currently a bottom-five squad.

Kidd is hoping that Porzingis will be available against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday, but nothing has been confirmed. Porzingis rested against Miami on Tuesday after a walkthrough the day before. <span… Nokia News – Quick Recap
