Insider: Lillard is ‘obsessed’ with bringing Warriors’ star to Portland.

After the Portland Trail Blazers were eliminated in the first round of the 2021 NBA Playoffs, star Damian Lillard stated emphatically that the squad was not capable of making a serious run at a championship.

Now, an insider has identified the guy who Lillard may believe is the missing piece: Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors. Lillard is thrilled with the prospect of recruiting Green to play beside him in Portland, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

During an appearance on the HoopsHype podcast, Slater stated, “The Blazers would love to have him.” “For a long time, (Damian) Lillard has been obsessed with getting him there.”

In Portland, green is having a moment.

As Slater pointed out, the Warriors have demonstrated Green’s ability to excel as a small-ball center. Green took over as center after James Wiseman was injured last season, and the Warriors went 15-5 down the stretch, he said. Slater noted that the 10-year NBA veteran might be in the finest shape of his career.

“He stayed in condition during the summer since he was at the Olympics,” Slater added. “If you talk to him or Steve Kerr, who was a coach at the time, they both felt it was fantastic for him because he generally spends the summer getting out of shape.” He was in great shape this summer. It premieres early in the season. Defensively, he’s still the same guy. He’s arguably the top defensive player in the league right now because they have the worst defensive personnel in the league, but they’re still sixth in defense right now.”

Draymond Green was interviewed about his heightened offensive intensity.

“Take the lane if one is available. Take the layup if one is available. Take the shot when the opportunity arises. Overthinking isn’t a good thing. Be the best version of myself.”
