Jermar Jefferson ‘Had Chills’ After Lions’ First Touchdown

The Detroit Lions have struggled to release some of its rookies this season, and it’s worth noting that the one guy who did score was a running back.

Jermar Jefferson scored against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, October 31. While the play had no bearing on the Lions’ final score of 44-6, it did boost Jefferson’s confidence on the field and give the rookie some positive vibes in his first year and first start.

Jefferson was asked about his sentiments after scoring the game’s only touchdown in a press conference on Monday, November 1 that was broadcast on DetroitLions.com. It was a tricky play, as he stated, because the Lions were down by a large margin, but it was still an exhilarating moment.

“It was fantastic. I’d say my emotions are split 50-50 because of the scoreboard, but I scored at the same moment, so it was a roller coaster ride. At the same time, scoring my first NFL touchdown was a dream come true. After that, I had chills. ‘Wow, this is crazy,’ I think. One thing, I believe I left the ball with Trinity Benson, and Amon-Ra (St. Brown) said, “Hey, get the ball buddy, this is your first NFL touchdown.” I grabbed it because I forgot.”

The play was very enjoyable, showcasing Jefferson’s speed and vision. On his way to the end zone, the shifty back made a terrific cut and displayed his straight line speed. Here’s the final score:

In terms of what will happen to the ball, Jefferson stated that he will eventually gift it to his father.

“I’m most likely going to give it to my father. He was the first to ask for it, saying, ‘I need the game ball from your first touchdown,’ so I’ll simply hand it over to him,” he said, smiling.

Even if he almost made it, it’s a special event that Jefferson won’t soon forget. Nokia News – Quick Recap
