The Rams have promoted a wide receiver, demonstrating that they don’t need to look elsewhere for help.

We now know who will fill in for DeSean Jackson on the Los Angeles Rams against the Tennessee Titans, and who will help address the team’s sudden depth problems at wide receiver.

The Rams aren’t looking for a free agent. It’s someone who has already spent time on the practice squad and is familiar with the offense.

J.J. Koski was one of two free agents signed by the Rams on Wednesday, November 3, making him the active roster’s fifth wide receiver for Sunday’s Sunday Night Football matchup against the Titans.

The decision to promote Koski comes after Jackson was released by the Rams on Tuesday, ending a seven-game stint with the organization. Tutu Atwell, a rookie, has been placed on injured reserve due to a shoulder issue. It also provides the Rams a fifth receiving option, as they were down to Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods, Van Jefferson, and youngster Ben Skowronek.

Despite rumors and recommendations that the Rams should pursue Odell Beckham Jr. or, more recently, John Brown, the team has decided to give someone they already know an opportunity to play. And, as one Rams insider put it, Koski gives the offense some much-needed variety.

‘It Could Be a Big Week For Him,’ says the narrator.

Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic not only noted Koski’s promotion to the 53-man roster, but he also mentioned that Koski is one of the few players who stays after practice for extra work:

JJ Koski, a former member of the Rams’ practice squad, has been promoted to the active roster. Koski returns kickoffs and punts, and I’ve seen him stay late after practices on few occasions in order to get in a few more reps. He could have a tremendous week ahead of him.
