Joe Montana reveals that he would have replaced Trey Lance with a rookie quarterback.

Mac Jones, the rookie quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, is a fan of Joe Montana.

So much so that the four-time Super Bowl champion Niners would have taken him over Trey Lance at No. 3 overall.

Montana stated he would have chosen the Alabama first-year player over North Dakota State standout Lance in an interview with College Football Live on ESPN on Tuesday, November 2.

“I would have taken (Jones) if I were the 49ers,” Montana remarked on the show. “No disrespect to (Lance), but (Jones) plays a more pro-style offense and is more accustomed to being in high-pressure situations.”

On College Football Live, Joe Montana said, “If I were the 49ers, I would have picked Mac… Alabama reminds me of old USC in terms of quarterback production, which I find amusing.”

For @AlabamaFTBL, there’s more high praise and more recruiting material.

Montana had already commented on the 49ers’ situation.

It’s not the first time the legendary 49ers quarterback has mentioned Lance and the Niners.

Montana discussed the ‘Niners’ predicament behind center in an interview with Heavy’s Stephanie Otey on September 28.

“Trey’s out here, and you’ve got a good man in front of you who’s already playing well, and he’s done it before,” Montana said. “Jimmy has to be fit so he can play.”

And this isn’t the first time he’s mentioned Jones as his preferred quarterback in an interview with ESPN.

Montana stated, “I would have taken Mac Jones.” “He seems to suit the bill. He’s got adequate mobility. The men that are in the pocket first are the ones who win the most in the league. People mistake Russell Wilson for a runner, for example. However, he is not a runner; rather, he is a pocket man who can run when necessary. In the same manner, I see Mac.

“Everyone questions him because he’s been surrounded by a fantastic squad for all those years at Alabama.” But you’re aware that he’s got success.”

Alabama was compared to a previous QB factory by Montana.

On Saturdays, Montana is a die-hard college football fan, to the point where he’s become aware of which schools are generating strong quarterbacks…. Nokia News – Quick Recap
