Following Monday’s devastating loss to the Chicago Bulls, Boston Celtics All-Star Jaylen Brown addressed Marcus Smart by name after beating the Orlando Magic 92-79.

In the midst of a three-game road trip, the Celtics got off to a strong start in Orlando. Following Boston’s spectacular breakdown at TD Garden, where they coughed away a 19-point lead in the second half en route to a 128-114 loss to the Bulls, Smart blasted All-Stars Jayson Tatum and Brown.

‘Something That We Probably Didn’t Need,’ Jaylen Brown said of Marcus Smart’s criticism.

Brown bounced back against the Magic with a game-high 28 points on 10-of-17 shooting, five rebounds, and three assists. Jaylen, on the other hand, didn’t hold back in his rebuttal to Smart, whom he confronted in public for the first time.

“It’s something that we probably didn’t need in the midst of trying to win games,” Brown said of Smart’s comments following the Celtics’ triumph on Wednesday night. “However, we all communicate and converse with one another. So, we’re constantly looking for ways to win, and I’m open to anything when the guys, the coaching staff, bring it to me. I’m always reviewing film in order to improve as a basketball player and find ways to help my teammates improve. So, getting a win today felt great.”

Brown, who was set to speak after Smart’s media availability following the Celtics’ loss to the Bulls, declined to do so Monday night, according to Celtics PR.

However, Jaylen claims the two have spoken since Marcus’ comments about the All-Star pairing not passing the ball enough, and that this is the start of what he expects to be a productive regular season for the two.

“We’ve definitely spent a lot of time together, which is nice to be able to talk to someone, but there are a lot of ups and downs that you go through because we’re family and stuff like that,” Brown said of his connection with Smart. “I believe we are having constructive discussions moving forward.” As I already stated, the energy is solely focused on… Nokia News – Quick Recap
