The Cowboys have accepted a trade offer involving an offensive player, according to reports.
The Dallas Cowboys received a trade offer for offensive lineman Connor McGovern in the days building up to the NFL trade deadline, which passed Tuesday. Bryan Broaddus of The Fan contributed to this article.
Broaddus did not say which team contacted him about McGovern or what compensation he was offered — most likely a mid-round draft pick — for his services. However, it was confirmed that Dallas declined the alleged proposition.
“My pal @BryanBroaddus informs me and the rest of the world that the Cowboys turned down a trade deal for Connor McGovern,” 105.3 FM says. Jeff Cavanaugh of The Fan tweeted on October 29.
The Cowboys’ aversion to trading McGovern, a promising third-year backup, coincided with team vice president Stephen Jones’ repeated warnings against trade action, saying Monday, hours before the deadline, that “we really enjoy our football team.”
Jones remarked on 105.3 The Fan, “And we all know how rapidly (things can change).” He was referring to injuries. “You might believe you have some depth one minute and be up against the wall the next,” Jones said. “If the appropriate situation presented itself, and we felt it was worth it to give up a little in one area in order to truly better ourselves in an area where we felt it would make a difference, then we’re open to it.”
“Obviously, with what we’ve had coming off the injured list, and the way guys have been stepping up,” he said. At the end of the day, you’ll require all of them. So something very important would have to happen to compel us to act.”

McGovern is thought to be a starter-in-waiting under offensive line coach Joe Philbin, whether it’s for Martin — whom he replaced in 2020 and started eight games — or left guard Connor Williams.
According to the official team website, Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy noted in September, “Great work ethic.” “I pondered… Nokia News – Quick Recap
