The Raiders have re-signed three players, including a wide receiver and a quarterback.

With the bye week behind them, the Las Vegas Raiders are retooling their roster. With the second half of the season approaching, the club must guarantee that its depth is in good shape. The Raiders revealed several roster changes on Wednesday.

The signing of linebacker Marquel Lee to the active roster was the team’s first major move.

QB Nathan Peterman and WR Marcell Ateman have been added to the practice squad.

T Dan Skipper has been released from the practice squad.

Lee was picked in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the team and has spent years on and off the roster. He re-signed with the team’s practice squad soon before the season began this year. Before being released again, he spent some time on the active roster. After that, he was returned to the practice squad. What’s strange is that the Raiders listed him as a free agent in their press release announcing his signing. He was on the practice squad, though, and the team never let him go before bringing him to the official roster. It was most likely a blunder on the Raiders’ social media team’s part. Regardless, he’s back on the active roster for the time being.

On Tuesday, the Raiders unexpectedly released quarterback Nathan Peterman. His time in free agency, though, was brief. Peterman will return to the Raiders’ practice squad, according to the team. He was most likely released to create room on the active roster. There was no reason to have three quarterbacks on the active roster with Derek Carr and Marcus Mariota healthy. Mariota has had health issues, so it’s a good idea to retain Peterman around in some manner. He’s familiar with the offense and played a lot in the preseason. If Carr needs assistance, he’ll be there.
