The Detroit Lions have had a bad run this season, as most people are aware, on route to their 0-8 record. The good news is that the season is still young, and there is still time for the club to make a significant improvement on the field.

Given the difficulty of Detroit’s schedule, finding multiple wins down the stretch will be challenging, but there is a plan in place for the team to accomplish this, and it revolves around reversing some of the mistakes they’ve made thus far in 2021.

So, what can the Lions do to change their fortunes and make it simpler for them to win? Here’s a look at what they should be focusing on in the second half to help them turn things around.

Get the football to wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown.

There’s no denying that finding a method to get St. Brown involved should be the team’s top priority, according to Lions head coach Dan Campbell. Despite some good efforts on the field, St. Brown has yet to find a way to break free and receive more targets. Earlier this season, he had a strong first half, running for 135 yards in back-to-back big games in October against Chicago and Minnesota. St. Brown has only accumulated 72 yards in the two games since that time. Rookies are bound to have ups and downs, but the Lions need to put more faith in St. Brown.

With more sacks, put more pressure on the quarterback.

Charles Harris, who has four sacks thus far this season, is Detroit’s leading sack collector. While this is great news for Harris, it isn’t so wonderful for the lions. Detroit has seen Romeo Okwara go down, which is a major factor in their pass rush issues. Even so, Harris, Trey Flowers, Julian Okwara, Nick Williams, and others should have enough firepower to put extra pressure on the pocket.
