With Eli Apple and Chidobe Aquzie, the Bengals already have two starting cornerbacks. Hargreaves may be used as a slot cornerback or perhaps as a starter for the Bengals.

Hargreaves started five of the Texans’ eight games this season as a member of the team. Hargreaves has a 54.5 grade in coverage this season, according to Pro Football Focus.

That number is actually higher than Apple’s, who has had a lot of trouble in coverage for the NFL’s sixth-ranked defense. According to PFF, the 26-year-old has a 48.9 coverage grade this season, which places him 107th out of 116th among all qualified corners.

Hargreaves was selected 11th overall in the 2016 NFL Draft by the Buccaneers.

Hargreaves started his career with the Buccaneers after being selected 11th overall in the 2016 NFL Draft. The University of Florida product had a strong rookie season, starting all 16 games he played in. After accumulating 76 tackles, nine pass defensed, and one interception, he was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team.

However, his Buccaneers career took a turn for the worse following that.

Hargreaves missed half of the 2017 season due to a calf injury, and he only played one game in 2018 due to a shoulder injury in Week 1. Hargreaves’ time with the Bucs came to an end in 2019, when he was released after starting the first nine games of the season.

With the Bucs, he appeared in 35 games as a former first-round selection pick. Hargreaves has started 52 of the 57 games he’s played in, but he’s always been a mediocre corner. According to PFF, the Gators alum has never had a coverage grade higher than a 64.6 (in 2017).
