Is Cobra Kai’s Encino Oaks Country Club a real place?

Fans of “The Karate Kid” and its spinoff series “Cobra Kai” have a keen observational skill.

Many fans may have noticed that the Encino Oaks Country Club, which served as the setting for the legendary scene in the original film in which Daniel is doused in spaghetti while spying on Ali, has since been re-used as a location in the series.

But what’s the story behind this location? Is it real, and is it the same as the one in “The Karate Kid”? Here’s everything you need to know.

The Club’s Appearance in ‘Cobra Kai’ Is a Reference to ‘The Karate Kid’

The Encino Oaks Country Club is a popular hangout for upper-class families in the original film, including Johnny Lawrence and Ali Mills.

Daniel and Ali are scheduled to meet at the club for a date at one point in the film (shown above), and Daniel decides to wander in through the kitchen while waiting, only to find Ali and Johnny dancing (much to Ali’s chagrin).

Johnny kisses Ali as he notices Daniel staring at them.

Ali quickly dismisses this, but not before Daniel notices and walks away, demoralized, causing him to collide with a waiter, spilling a plate of spaghetti all over himself and further humiliating himself.

The creators of “Cobra Kai” decided to take the audience back to the legendary country club early in the show, in keeping with the show’s tradition of revisiting elements from the original films.

It returns this time, though Daniel and his family are now members of the club, despite the fact that Johnny Lawrence is a washed-up has-been who has abandoned his son and struggles to make ends meet.

It first appears during a party attended by the LaRusso family in episode 2 of season 1.

Daniel’s young son Anthony, on the other hand, is more interested in his video games than the posh club in which he is surrounded, prompting Daniel to remark to his wife, “I would’ve killed to visit a club like this when I was his age.”

When Daniel, Amanda, Johnny, and, appropriately, Ali Mills go to the country club for Christmas in season 3, episode 9, the country club reappears once more…
