Analyst: The Lakers have been lit up by a player who could’ve been theirs.

DeMar DeRozan, a Compton, California native, grew up as a Los Angeles Lakers fan, but on Monday, he was a bad, bad man toward his hometown team.

DeRozan scored a season-high 38 points on 15-of-23 shooting in 35 minutes at Staples Center.

The Bulls defeated the Lakers 121-103 to earn their 10th victory of the season, thanks in large part to that effort.

Los Angeles, on the other hand, dropped its second game in three tries and is now just above the Western Conference lottery fray.

DeRozan wasn’t the only one who took it out on the visitors.

Former Lakers Lonzo Ball (27 points) and Alex Caruso (six rebounds, five assists, and two steals) were also instrumental in the victory.

DeRozan’s night, on the other hand, may have been the most painful for Lakers fans.

He’s probably scoring those points for the purple and gold in some alternate universe.

The Lakers, on the other hand, chose to trade for Russell Westbrook.

And it appears that a former player and league analyst wants to make sure everyone is aware of this.

DeRozan should be with LAL, according to Jay Williams.

Jay Williams, a former Bull who is now an ESPN personality, couldn’t help but remind Lakers fans of what could have been if DeRozan hadn’t gone off.

“For those who didn’t understand how this went down last night, here’s another chip [on the shoulder].”

He said on Keyshawn, JWill, and Max, “When DeMar DeRozan had the opportunity to go to another team, you know where he wanted to go? He wanted to be a Los Angeles Laker.”

“Kobe Bryant was his hero.

He met with LeBron James on two occasions.

DeMar DeRozan was willing to take a pay cut to join the Lakers, but the Lakers chose Russell Westbrook instead, allowing DeMar DeRozan to sign an (dollar)85 million contract with the Chicago Bulls.”

DeRozan told Yahoo! Sports’ Chris Haynes that a move to the Lakers “was a done deal” at one point after his big night in LA.
