Preview of Chicago State vs. Loyola

Loyola-Chicago hopes to keep the momentum going in the early stages of the season in order to return to the NCAA Tournament.

Last spring, three years after reaching the Final Four, the Ramblers made it to the Sweet 16.

On November 1, the Ramblers defeated Coppin State 103-45.

On Nov. 9, they beat Florida Gulf Coast 98-77 in their season opener.

The Ramblers are well aware that the pollsters haven’t noticed them.

According to CBS Chicago’s Jackie Kostek, Ramblers senior forward Aher Uguak said, “We kind of feel disrespected with the new rankings coming out – but that’s OK, we expected that.”

“We’re always the underdog every year.”

Drew Valentine, the new head coach of Loyola, agrees.

“Others may not see us the way we see ourselves in the mirror, but let’s go out and let our play speak for us,” Valentine told Kostek.

With victories over St. Louis and Chicago State, Chicago State is off to a good start.

On Nov. 7, Thomas defeated Thomas 77-72.
