Dani Alves Will Wear Iconic Shirt Number, Barcelona Confirms.

After returning to the Camp Nou for a second stint with the Catalan giants, Dani Alves will don the famous No.8 shirt.

The Brazilian has previously worn the numbers 2, 6, 20, and 22 for Barcelona, but the club has confirmed that he will wear the number 8 for the remainder of the 2021-22 season.

Miralem Pjanic, a midfielder who joined Besiktas on a season-long loan in September, was the most recent player to wear the No.8.

According to Diario AS, club president Ahmet Nur Cebi stated that the club wants to sign Pjanic on a permanent basis.

“Pjanic is a world-class name, and we’d like to buy him,” he said, “but it depends on the circumstances.”

“I’m hoping for circumstances to arise that allow us to keep the operation within our budget.”

Andres Iniesta, Hristo Stoichkov, Ludovic Giuly, and Brazilian midfielder Arthur Melo are among the players who have worn the No.8 at Barcelona.

Alves is training with Barcelona but will not be able to play in any official matches until January 2022.

On Wednesday, November 17, he will be introduced as a new Barcelona player at the Camp Nou.
