Moses Brown, the Mavericks’ center, should benefit from his time in the G League.

The Dallas Mavericks have a number of young players on their roster, including Moses Brown, who is the team’s top center prospect.

With that in mind, the Mavs are focused on winning now, which means projects like Brown don’t always get playing time.

That’s not to say the 7-foot-2 center can’t help a winning team; it’s just that he hasn’t had the opportunity yet.

Brown has been given the opportunity to showcase his skills in the G League with the Texas Legends, which is fortunate for him.

In the past, Brown’s time in the G League has only benefited him and his NBA playing time.

It’s given me the chance to grow as a player and gain confidence.

Could he translate his G League success to the NBA level for the Mavs?

Brown has a good chance to be a building block in Dallas after spending the offseason training with former Mavericks center Tyson Chandler.

Is it beneficial for Brown to play in the G League?

Prior Work Experience

Brown signed a two-way contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder to begin the 2020-21 season.

He got the majority of his court time in the G League with the OKC Blue early on due to a lack of opportunities in the NBA.

The 7-footer had a strong season for the Blue, averaging 18.5 points and 13.9 rebounds per game in the G League in 2020-21.

He was undeniably one of the best players in the league, returning to the NBA full of confidence after the G League season ended.

Brown began to make an impact for the Thunder after that, eventually becoming the team’s permanent starting center and signing a full-time NBA contract.

Brown averaged 8.9 points and 8.6 rebounds per game for the Thunder this season, while starting 32 games.

This was priceless experience, as he was given an opportunity that few young players do.

Brown, a former top-15 recruit out of high school, has always had promise and has a lot of upside at the age of 22.

The more experience he can gain as he progresses, the better.
