Pro Bowler and Team Captain for the Oakland Raiders has been asked to retire after the season.
The Raiders decided to overhaul their offensive line this offseason, with mixed results.
Richie Incognito and Denzelle Good were supposed to be the starting guards, but both have only played in one game.
John Simpson, a second-year guard, has a bright future ahead of him, but he wasn’t expected to start this season.
Alex Leatherwood, who was drafted to start at right tackle, was not one of them.
The Raiders will have to rethink their offensive line when the offseason arrives.
Incognito will be absent for the majority of the next two seasons.
There’s no reason to believe he has another full season left in him at 38 years old.
According to Bleacher Report’s Maurice Moton, Incognito should retire at the end of the season:
Incognito’s possible return date has been repeatedly pushed back by the Raiders.
The 38-year-old isn’t expected to return until at least December.
Incognito has appeared in 14 games and missed 27 since joining the Raiders in 2019.
He will most likely retire at the end of the 2021 term due to injuries and a slow recovery.
When he’s on the field, Incognito has been a fantastic Raiders teammate and an elite guard.
However, in each of his three seasons with the team, he has missed multiple games.
It’s possible that this will be his final NFL season.

Incognito has a setback.
The Raiders have hoped Incognito would return throughout the season.
Simpson hasn’t been terrible, but the veteran is undeniably better.
He’s also a team captain and the undisputed leader of a young offensive line.
Unfortunately, his chances of playing this season are dwindling.
Rich Bisaccia, the interim head coach, revealed on Monday that Incognito has had a “setback” in his recovery from a calf injury he sustained during training camp.
That’s bad news because he didn’t appear to be coming back anytime soon.
He still has time to return to the field, but things aren’t looking promising.
In the offseason, the Raiders must address the offensive line.
