Randee Heller played Daniel LaRusso’s mother, Lucille, in the original “Karate Kid,” “Part III,” and “Cobra Kai,” but she isn’t as well-known as some of the other members of the legendary cast.

Lucille LaRusso: Heller’s 37-Year Run
Lucille is played by Randee Heller, who was born in 1947 and has a long career in television and film.
Heller did not appear in “Part II,” and only made a brief appearance in one scene in “Part III” after playing the loving and kindhearted Lucille LaRusso in 1984, when she was 36 years old.
She did, however, return to the “Karate Kid” franchise as Lucille LaRusso in “Cobra Kai,” first appearing at the age of 70 during a dinner with Daniel’s family in episode 8 of season 1.
She returned in season 2 to share memories of Daniel’s late father and to assist him with his marital problems while looking at old photos.
Lucille will appear in season 4 of “Cobra Kai,” so fans of Daniel’s mother will not have seen the last of her character.
Heller was a part of a pivotal moment in television history.
Many people are unaware that Heller portrayed Alice in “Soap,” an ABC comedy that aired from 1977 to 1981, just a few years before “The Karate Kid.”
According to HuffPost, Alice was the first recurring lesbian character on television when she first appeared in 1979.
However, Alice was not the first gay character on the show.
