The President of Barcelona Discusses Messi and Iniesta’s Potential Returns

Following the arrival of Dani Alves at the Camp Nou, Barcelona president Joan Laporta has refused to rule out the possibility of club legends Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta returning.

The Brazilian was unveiled at a ceremony at the Camp Nou on Wednesday, November 17th, for a second spell.

According to Marca, the 38-year-old has followed legend Xavi in returning to the club, and Laporta was asked at a press conference if Messi and Iniesta might do the same.

He said, “I don’t rule it out.”

“These are the people who have made this club what it is today.

I can’t predict the future because they’re still playing, but Messi and Iniesta have made the club great, and we always keep them in mind, even though they now have contracts with other clubs, which you have to respect, but you never know in life.”

Returns of Messi andamp; Iniesta

Messi moved to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2021 after leaving Barcelona.

In the future, the Argentine has already stated that he would like to return to the club in some capacity, ideally as a sporting director.

Iniesta, on the other hand, left Barcelona for Vissel Kobe in Japan in 2018.

On his 37th birthday, the former midfielder signed a new two-year contract extension with the club in May 2021.

According to Diario Sport, the World Cup winner has also stated that he would like to return to Barcelona at some point, though he is unsure what role he would play there.

“I don’t know what will happen in the future, but I would love to return to Barca at some point in my life.”

“To return to Barca, to my home, to be able to continue helping in some way, but nobody knows the future,” he said.

Xavi, according to Laporta, needed Alves.

Laporta also discussed Barcelona’s decision to bring Alves back to the club.

The Catalan giants’ signing of the 38-year-old has raised some eyebrows, but Laporta revealed that new coach Xavi was adamant about wanting the Brazilian on his team.

“I asked Xavi if he wanted Dani to be signed as…,” he explained.
