Chris Carson’s availability is looking bleak for the Seahawks.

Due to a lingering neck injury, running back Chris Carson has not played for the Seattle Seahawks since a Week 4 victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

According to the most recent update from head coach Pete Carroll, this situation is unlikely to change.

On Wednesday, November 17, Carroll met with members of the media to discuss the upcoming game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Carson will not return to practice and will remain on Injured Reserve, he said during the session.

Carroll didn’t say much, but he did say that Carson hasn’t made as much progress as they had hoped in his attempt to return.

He’s still dealing with the neck injury that kept him out of the Los Angeles Rams game on October 7 and the next four games.

On November 10th, Carson returned to practice.

The Seahawks expressed optimism about Carson’s potential return to action after the bye week.

On November 8, Carroll met with the media and stated that the running back would be subjected to additional testing before returning to practice.

On November 10, the Seahawks announced Carson’s return to practice after being placed on Injured Reserve.

The team had 21 days to either activate him to the active roster or shut him down for the rest of the season following this roster move.

“He’s got to get through the week of work, and it’s a one-day-at-a-time thing,” Carroll said, according to the Seahawks website.

“He’ll be beaten up a little tomorrow, but it’ll be interesting to see how he reacts.”

It’s critical to have a good bead on this one.

He’ll feel great running around and doing all that because he’s in great shape and has been working really hard, so it’ll just be a matter of how he responds — same old thing — and how his body reacts to the workload.”

Carson remained on injured reserve as the Seahawks lost 17-0 to the Packers at Lambeau Field, but he could return before Week 11.

Carroll’s most recent comments, however, cast doubt on his availability for the rest of the season…
