The New York Jets have signed a cornerback from the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad to their active roster.

Rachad Wildgoose was drafted in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL draft by the Buffalo Bills, but his time in Buffalo came to an end on Tuesday, November 16.

Wildgoose, a 21-year-old member of the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad, has left Buffalo to join the New York Jets, who have signed the Wisconsin alum to their active roster.

The 5-foot-10, 191-pound cornerback is on his way to making his NFL debut, but it won’t be with the team that drafted him in the first round.

Instead, Wildgoose will make his NFL debut with the Jets, a team the Bills thrashed 45-17 in Week 10.

The Jets (2-7) are another team with a slim chance of making the playoffs, as they currently sit last in the AFC East.

Wildgoose will be expected to fill the void left by Jets cornerback Brandin Echols, who was placed on injured reserve.

According to Bills Wire, Wildgoose ran a 4.41-second 40-yard dash during his Pro Day, ranking him fifth among cornerbacks eligible for the 2021 draft.

Wildgoose had 44 tackles, 15 passes defended, and one interception in 25 games during his three years at Wisconsin.

The Bills, like the Jets, are making moves to compensate for injured players or those placed on COVID reserve, such as defensive tackle Star Lotulelei.

Bills sideline reporter Sal Capaccio confirmed on Twitter on Tuesday, November 16 that defensive tackle Eli Ankou would be assigned to the practice squad.
