Daniel and Kumiko have a romantic moment in this video.

Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) has two love interests in the “The Karate Kid” film franchise.

The New Jersey native makes an instant connection with Ali Mills (Elisabeth Shue) in the first film.

The teenagers, however, break up at the start of the second installment of the “Karate Kid” film franchise, titled “The Karate Kid Part II.”

Tomi Village, in Okinawa, Japan, is Miyagi’s (Pat Morita) hometown.

Daniel meets Miyagi’s ex-boyfriend Yukie (Nobu McCarthy) and her niece Kumiko (Tamlyn Tomita) on the trip.

Kumiko reciprocates the karate student’s feelings.

Their romance is short-lived, however, as Daniel must return to America.

The teenager encourages Kumiko to visit the United States in a scene that you can watch below.

Kumiko is sitting on a dock, throwing rice into the water, when Daniel comes across her.

Daniel asks if she would be interested in moving to the United States after she explains that she is performing an “old custom” to grant loved ones who have been out at sea “a quick return.”

“Do you think I’d like America?” the dancer inquires.

Daniel responds that he “think[s][she]would love it,” prompting Kumiko to inquire if America “would love [her].” Despite only knowing her for a short time, the martial arts enthusiast declares his love for the Okinawa native.

Daniel asserts, “Well, I know one part of it already does.”

The New Jersey native then leans in for a kiss, but the sound of a horn interrupts them.

Tamlyn Tomita reprised her role in Season 3 of ‘Cobra Kai.’
