Former Raiders Hard Knocks star joins Jets practice squad

The Jets have added a former Raiders Hard Knocks star to their practice squad.

With the New York Jets’ 2021 season looking increasingly bleak, it’s natural for fans to look ahead.

We, as Jets fans, are all too familiar with this feeling.

Fortunately, the Green andamp; White rookie class has shown a lot of promise, and the franchise could be on the verge of a long-awaited turnaround with another nine draft picks on the way in 2022.

For the time being, GM Joe Douglas will do everything he can to assist this roster, including picking up players from the practice squad who may have gone unnoticed by other teams.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who found a recent Jets signing intriguing.

After two years, the Jets are paying attention to their fans.

Wide receiver Keelan Doss became a star during the 2019 season of HBO’s “Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Oakland Raiders.”

At the time, the hardworking Alameda native was an undrafted rookie from UC Davis.

Throughout the HBO documentary, he impressed head coach Jon Gruden and won the hearts of many fans who cheered him on as he tried to make the active roster.

Doss was eventually cut by the Raiders before signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars’ practice squad.

Doss’ career did not end as expected, but he did return to Coach Gruden from 2020 to August of this year.

The lovable wideout is now a Jet after signing to the practice squad on November 16 after a brief stint with the Atlanta Falcons.

Gang Green’s wide receiver core was much weaker in 2019 than it is now, and many Jets fans pleaded with the team to pursue Doss if the Raiders chose to release him.

“Jets should sign Keelan Doss,” Jean-Ralphio said at the time.

I’m baffled as to why such a dedicated employee isn’t recognized.”
