Suicidal Past Revealed by a ‘Real Housewife’

Porsha Williams, a Bravo star, joined “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” in 2012 as a cast member.

The television personality opened up to People magazine in November 2021 about her previous mental health issues.

The former “RHOA” star revealed that writing her upcoming memoir, “The Pursuit of Porsha,” was “both therapeutic and difficult as hell” for her.

“I wanted to talk about those dark times, how I got through them, and what it took to get there.”

“Everything that has happened to me has shaped who I am today,” Williams explained.

The Bravo personality revealed that she suffered from depression as a child.

The Georgia native was a victim of bullying as a middle school student, according to the publication, and ended up “contemplating suicide.”

“I was too young to comprehend what I was up against.”

“I didn’t really identify with the term ‘depression’ until I was about 29 years old,” Williams revealed.

The mother-of-one revealed that she has been to counseling.

Simon Guobadia, her five-month-old fiancé, is also “a big advocate for going to therapy,” she said.

“[H]e’s worked hard on himself, and I’ve been working hard on myself.”

“I knew he was the one for me from the beginning,” the reality star revealed.

Williams also revealed in the People magazine interview that she suffered from postpartum depression after the birth of her daughter, Pilar Jhena McKinley, in 2019.

“I had to survive that in order to be a good mom for her, so when I was able to recover from postpartum depression, it was just another thing to let me know that this is my little life saver.”

“I never have to get to the point where I don’t want to live because I’m living for my daughter,” Williams explained.
