Cardinals’ top safety is out of the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Seahawks.

Cardinals’ top safety is out of practice ahead of their game against the Seahawks.

On November 18, the Arizona Cardinals practiced without a key member of their defense.

Budda Baker, a 2020 All-Pro safety, was absent from practice due to a heel injury.

Baker’s status has been downgraded, which is concerning given that he was limited on November 17 with the same injury.

Baker has not missed a game in 2021, but he did suffer a concussion and a knee injury prior to the Panthers’ Week 10 matchup.

Baker missed a game against the Panthers last season due to a thumb injury.

Baker’s presence is crucial to the Cardinals, according to defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, who spoke about it on November 12.

“You don’t realize how many big plays Budda prevents until you don’t have him,” Joseph said.

“I believe JT (Jalen Thompson) is in the same boat.”

They go for 20 and 30 when those guys aren’t on the field, when those runs pop, and they’re six and seven yards when Budda and JT are on the field.

When we didn’t have Budda last year (in Carolina), we quickly realized that he can make bad plays better for us, and that’s what good safeties do.”

Baker has two interceptions and has been paired with Jalen Thompson, a defensive contributor who has gone unnoticed.

As the Cardinals prepare to play the Seattle Seahawks before their bye week, this situation will be closely monitored.

The rest of the injury report for November 18 was quite extensive.

Injury Update: Cardinals

On Thursday, star quarterback Kyler Murray (ankle) and veteran quarterback Colt McCoy (pectoral) were both limited in practice for the second day in a row.

DeAndre Hopkins, who hasn’t practiced in two weeks due to a hamstring injury, was also absent.

Justin Pugh, the starting left guard, has been out of practice since Week 10 because of a calf injury.

Kyler Murray does not stretch with the team for the second day in a row, instead stretching with a trainer on the side before joining (hashtag)AZCardinals practice.
