Hospitalization risk is 40-45 percent lower in Omicron than in Delta, according to a study.
Patients who have the Omicron variant of COVID19 have a 40% to 45 percent lower risk of needing to stay in the hospital than those who have the Delta variant.
According to research published on Wednesday by Imperial College London, patients with the Omicron variant of COVID-19 have a 40% to 45 percent lower risk of needing hospitalization than patients with the Delta variant.
“Overall, we find evidence of a reduction in the risk of hospitalization for Omicron infections when compared to Delta infections, averaging over all cases in the study period,” the researchers said of the study, which looked at data from PCR-test confirmed cases in England from December to December.
