Are Galaxy S22 buyers in for a big disappointment? A well-known insider fuels speculations that Samsung could rely on a new technology that is still full of teething troubles. It would not be the first time that the smartphone manufacturer has taken such a step.
Samsung’s preparations are currently in full swing: The company has invited to an unpacked event on August 11, where the Galaxy Watch 4 and two new foldable phones are expected, among other things. The latter are supposed to be the first Samsung smartphones ever with an under-display camera. The selfie camera is supposed to be barely visible to the naked eye and virtually disappear into the screen. As innovative as the technology sounds in theory, it could be flawed in practice.
Samsung Galaxy S22: Insider warns of in-display camera
At least the well-known insider Ice Universe on Twitter assumes that. According to him, the in-display camera is “far from” being able to keep up with regular front cameras. And: “You will hope that the Samsung Galaxy S22 does not adopt this technology.”
When you see the under-screen camera phone in the second half of the year, you will suddenly realize and hope that Samsung S22 will not adopt it. Their selfie effects are far from the normal level.

That’s a strong piece! The Twitter user, who has almost 300,000 followers, has sent half the smartphone world into a panic. At least there are no indications that Samsung is considering an under-display camera for the Galaxy S22. Instead, the South Koreans seem to want to set new standards for the main camera and catch up with the iPhone 12 in terms of performance.
