In the race to sign Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen, Bayern Munich has joined Barcelona.

Bayern Munich has expressed interest in signing Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen, joining Barcelona in doing so.

The 25-year-old’s contract expires in the summer, and he is now free to speak to foreign clubs.

Chelsea made him a new contract offer earlier this season, but he has yet to accept.

Bayern Munich and Barcelona, as well as Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid, are looking at free agent options and have added the Danish centre-back to their lists.

Chelsea are still looking into full-back options despite recalling Kenedy from Flamengo on loan.

After Ben Chilwell was ruled out for the season after knee surgery, and Reece James was sidelined for two months with a hamstring tear, the Blues are left with backline issues.

Due to the injuries, Chelsea now only has one recognized wing-back in Marcos Alonso, and Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has decided to bring Kenedy back to the club.

They’ve been turned down three times in their attempts to terminate Emerson Palmieri’s loan from Lyon, but they’re still interested in Barcelona’s Sergino Dest, who is valued at £20 million.

Chelsea could make a move for Bayern Munich’s Niklas Sule if Christensen leaves the club.

The 26-year-old is said to have turned down a new contract offer from his current club, as well as the chance to join Newcastle United.

Sule is a target for Barcelona, and if either Christensen or Antonio Rudiger, who is also out of contract, leave Stamford Bridge, Chelsea and manager Thomas Tuchel will have to act quickly to secure the German’s signature.
