vocalist for The Seekers
Judith Durham, an Australian singer for the folk band The Seekers, passed away at the age of 79.
The renowned singer-songwriter died on Friday night after a protracted battle with chronic lung disease, according to the Herald Sun.
She had been receiving palliative care at the Alfred Hospital before she passed away as a result of the illness.
In a joint statement, Athol Guy, Keith Potger, and Bruce Woodley from the Seekers band referred to her as a “lifelong friend.”
They declared, “Losing our treasured lifetime friend and shining star has changed our lives forever.”
She put up a valiant fight, never moaning about her fate and accepting its outcome wholeheartedly.
Keith, Bruce, and [Athol] are so fortunate to share in her magnificent musical legacy.
The hits I’ll Never Find Another You and Georgy Girl made The Seekers famous.
