Straight sets defeat for Emma Raducanu
Emma Raducanu, the second seed, lost to Liudmila Samsonova in the Citi Open quarterfinals, ending her successful run.
Even though the first set was close, the Russian world number 60 ultimately defeated Raducanu 7-6 (6) 6-1.
With nine aces and 33 winners overall, Samsonova easily won the second set after saving four set points on her way to winning the first.
With only eight victories and one ace to go along with 24 unforced errors, Raducanu was her own worst enemy as she struggled to match Samsanova’s strength.

Evans fought back to win the second set with ease after dropping the first in a tiebreak.
