Man in custody over fatal Tas shooting

A man wanted over a fatal shooting at a home in Hobart’s northern suburbs has been taken into police custody after spending a day on the run.

A 32-year-old man, named in media reports as Tye Silver, died at the Bridgewater house about 1am on Tuesday.

Police say he was shot in the upper body in what they describe as a “targeted attack”.

Police launched a large scale search for the alleged offender and the weapon.

“The man wanted in relation to the fatal Bridgewater shooting has been taken into police custody without incident,” they said in a statement on Tuesday night.

No charges have been laid and investigations are ongoing.

Several people who were inside the house when the shooting occurred were unharmed.
